Yesterday I wrote about Dicks Sporting Goods (DKS) as a trade candidate in Trade of the Day.

The idea came from a recent trip to Switzerland, where I walked beautiful trails and noticed those $65 water bottles were everywhere.

I had already noticed the water bottle trend in the United States.

However, after seeing it in Switzerland – I knew the trend was global.

So a bottle carrier company like DKS made sense as a trade candidate.

DKS also had earnings coming up on Aug. 28, so I was looking for some early momentum there and got positioned.

While DKS had a choppy after-hours session yesterday, I decided to hold until after the opening bell and see if I could catch an upside momnentum pop.

Lo and behold, that’s exactly what I got.

Right at the opening bell, I saw some early market upside to DKS and rang the register for a 55% winner in 1 trading day.

The lesson here is… always keep an eye out for what people are buying. If you consistently see a product in real life – then the company’s stock could reflect those buying habits.
